Quick and easy Autumn Projects to carry with you

I love to have a project to hand At All Times!!!

You never know when you will have five minutes to spare, or a boring wait (hello, 25 minutes until the next bus home) and rather than doom-scrolling on my phone I can grab my project and get making.

Now, my favourite mobile project will always be socks. They are small and compact and I just love self striping or patterning yarns so, apart from the cuff heel and toe, I'm literally just knitting a tube. Don't you just love these West Yorkshire Spinners yarns inspired by British Birds. I have about 4 balls of these just waiting to be knitted.

You can get them here *

Now I know that socks aren't every bodies cup of tea so here are some lovely quick and easy patterns to help inspire you to keep a project in your bag at all times.

Knitted Scarf

A scarf is a great 1st project and this Noro Keyhole Scarf has a cute little twist. You tuck one end through a nifty little keyhole, so there is less length to knit. This is a free download from Terri Decker on Ravelry and only uses 100g/200m of chunky yarn on 6mm needles

Crochet Hat

I haven't tried this pattern, but it claims to be a 30 minute hat! I feel a challenge being laid down. You crochet this free pattern in super chunky yarn, so it should work up quickly and be lovely and warm. Let me know if you can make one in 30 mins!!!!

Knitted Socks

If you want a really simple sock, go for a pattern described as "Vanilla." This Late Night Sock from iknit2purl2 is her go to standard and about as plain as you can get, download here to give it a try tonight.  (free Ravelry account required)
